ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hi!

I’m Mawuena, a debut Author and I’m so excited to share my journey with you.

My passion for writing and illustration can be traced back to early childhood. One of my most prominent school memories is a time when I drew a portrait picture of a classmate that received notable attention. I remember that it was placed on a display board in the school hallway and I felt so proud every time I walked past that picture. If I remember correctly, I even received an award for it at the time.

From that point on, my desire to produce art grew from strength to strength but became neglected as I became an adult learner. I went on to study Business Entrepreneurship and Education Studies at University where I graduated with a bachelor's degree.

Long story short, I have been working within the business and education sector ever since. I have become a wife, a mother and my most recent position as a business manager for an independent school kept me very busy until 2020 where I finally had time for me.

I recalled a story and some drawings that I kept aside a few years prior but had no spare time to do anything with them. The storyline was inspired by voluntary work that I do alongside my husband and a team of volunteers to assist homeless people within the West Midlands.

I took advantage of 2020 to turn that story and those drawings into what is now my first publication ‘Dana’s not-so-ordinary day.’ This heart-warming story is a perfect aid to every child’s learning journey. It contains valuable lessons that I hope will stay with them for years to come. But don’t just take my word for it…read it for yourself!
