HOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN JUST ONE MOVE
Updated: Sep 26
Wanna make the world a better place?

Do this…
Focus on becoming a better person.
It might seem cliché but here is how it works in practice…
When you’re better, you think better thoughts, you make better decisions which consequently produces better actions. Your family, friends and community derive the benefit which improves their experience of life and some will be inspired to become better themselves. The cycle continues.
A subtle improvement for you could make a huge difference to the life of someone else. For instance, a mother who decides to work on her time-keeping could vastly improve the quality of life for her family.
It’s a valuable effect that can never truly be calculated, because you just don’t know how many encounters are improved from the work you put in to becoming better, and you don't know who is learning from you. But when you embark on the journey of personal development, you will know it’s working because you will see the difference within your home and/or within your close circle.
So how do you focus on becoming a better person?

By connecting or re-connecting with your CREATOR!
After all, it’s He who gave you all that you have both internally and externally. So who better to go to in order to figure out how to produce the best results from the life that you’ve been given?
Makes sense right?
Building or maintaining a healthy relationship with YHWH (GOD) is fundamental to building a better way of life that can truly withstand the test of time and external pressures.
Psalm 127:1
A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon. Unless Yahweh builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless Yahweh watches the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain.
When you focus on becoming a better person by building your connection with YHWH, you will not be able to help but to produce good results in your life and the lives of those around you because you will be led by the Spirit.
If you’ve found yourself in a spiritually dry place then here are 4 simple steps to getting closer to YHWH.
And these steps really are simple. It’s us that make them difficult.
#1 Speak with Him
Establish a time at the start of each day to talk with Him through prayer. Ask YHWH to forgive you and thank Him for what He’s doing in your life but also let Him know what’s on your mind. Our Heavenly Father loves it when we trust Him with our problems. As time goes on, you will feel more desire to pray.
#2 Learn from Him
Take time each day to learn what YHWH has to teach you by reading The Holy Bible. If you struggle with the motivation to read then I highly recommended using a Bible reading plan. With a basic Google search there are plenty that you can follow online or download as a PDF.
#3 Listen to Him
The Holy Spirit has an opinion on so many things but we often miss the chance to learn wisdom from Him because we do not practice being still. So learn to be still. Throughout various times in the day, just stop, wait for His instruction (which often feels like a strong compulsion or idea that aligns with scripture), then do what He says!
#4 Follow Him
Live your life according to what you’ve learned from the scriptures. Apply the verses to your everyday scenarios and maintain communication through steps 1-3 to to stay on track.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16
These 4 simple steps reveal how to get closer to YHWH so that you can emanate the light of Christ and be a blessing and example to others, thus, making the world a better place.
Becoming better is one way to make the world a better place.
But there’s an additional way that requires you to be intentional about your life. And that is to…
Pursue your purpose.
In other words…pursue your God-given mission!
Pursuing your purpose provides a container through which you can apply your trust in Christ and intentionally contribute to making the world a better place.
Successful corporations are known to have strong mission statements.
It guides their policies which guides the company culture and before too long, companies are operating in alignment with their mission.
But what is your mission? Have you ever thought about that? What does The Most High want you to do with your time in this season?
You have been blessed with so many ‘assets.’ Your gifts, talents, skills, knowledge and experience are all assets that you could be using with intention towards your purpose.
Are you doing the best with what you have to bring glory to The Most High and serve His people?
As believers we know that this life is only temporary, but while we're here, we're required to love others and fulfil the great the commission. One way to do that is to be in a position to serve others.
If you’re unsure of your purpose or what you have to contribute, I’ve developed this free list of questions to get you thinking.
